Single-furnace lines

Each single-furnace UPCAST® line is a compact unit built
around a combined melting/holding furnace.

There are several furnace sizes available with volumes ranging from 6 to 12 tons of molten copper. The required output determines the furnace size to be used. Maximum output from a single-furnace UPCAST® line is 12,000 TPA.

Each single-furnace UPCAST® line is a compact unit built around a combined melting/holding furnace. These open-top type furnaces come in several sizes. Production capacity determines the size to be used - decisive factors being sufficient "dwell-time" for the melt and ample sace for the coolers. Each furnace is electrically heated with a channel inductor — both single- and double-loop types being used. Stepless power control has replaced the more conventional stepped one as the standard. Cathode charging is performed automatically although a semi-automatic alternative is also available for lower capacity lines.

Multistrand casting system

UPCAST® is a multistrand casting system where the number of operational strands increases with rising production capacity. Casting machines run with servo-driven withdrawal systems and each individual strand has its own coiler. A wide range of cast product sizes can be cast - even simultaneously. Single-furnace lines can be expandable to double-furnace configuration.

Features

All combined furnaces are electrically heated using a channel type inductor. Both single-loop and double-loop types are used. A stepless power supply and control system has replaced the more conventional stepped one as the standard type.

Automatic cathode charging is standard but a semi-automatic alternative is also available.

UPCAST® is a multi-strand casting system where the number of strands depends on the production capacity. The casting machines are equipped with servo-driven withdrawal systems and there is an individual coiler for each strand.
