Before deciding to purchase a new and original UPCAST® line, TMLIMA explored various options for obtaining high-quality 8 mm oxygen-free rod, incorporating advanced automation technology for operation, control, processing, and diagnostics.

The plant’s capacity is 12,000 tons per year using the upward continuous casting for copper processing machine.

The company has been running the UPCAST® line for more than two years with the satisfaction of obtaining good results in terms of productivity and quality of the copper rod.

In addition, the company has consistently produced oxygen-free copper rod of the highest quality, in accordance with ASTM B 49 standards, using Grade A copper cathodes (99.99% copper), which represent the highest level of cathode purity.

TMLIMA currently exports 45% of its production to the Latin American market, serving the electrical conductors manufacturing industry while remaining competitive in terms of price, delivery time, and quality.

TMLIMA is committed to its continuous improvement culture, consistently assessing advanced technological solutions to optimize its operations, reduce maintenance downtime, and further strengthen its competitive position.

Andres Lipp, General Manager:
“The solution provided by UPCAST met our expectations and addressed the challenges we anticipated, enabling the production of high-quality 8 mm copper rods.”

The challenge ahead as a copper rod manufacturer is to increase productivity on a sustainable basis while continuously strengthening their competitive position across all markets.

Peru (South America)

The Peruvian market is particularly distinctive. With a population of 32 million, Peru is one of the world’s leading copper producers, second only to Chile in South America. Although the country continues to face recurring political challenges, including frequent changes in leadership, its economy remains sufficiently stable to attract both domestic and foreign investment.
